FAQ

How long will it take to sell my business?

It depends on the lots of things. The larger the business the more due diligence and moving parts as a rule. For most businesses the process should be 3-10 months. That’s why we guarantee that we will sell your business within 10 months or you won’t pay for any advertising ever again.

No. Most will sell quite a few, there’s a lot who sell hardly any. It all depends on the type of deal you have in place with your broker. Free deals usually mean less advertising and out reach. Commission at the end deals means careful selection of the buyer enquiries to make sure the highest fee is paid. A totally independent advertising only service like the one provided by Agilis Advisory means every enquiry is handled in the best way for the business.

The most popular types of business are the ones that are valued accurately and invest in the best advertising possible. Agilis Advisory are experts in getting a business sale ready and positioning it in the best possible way for potential buyers.

Nearly. We have a choice of 5 valuation methodologies which we use depending on the business. All will be within a valuation range but at the end of the day a business is only worth what someone will pay for it so always look on valuations as a guide and not definitive.

No. Most will list on the big 3 advertising platforms but after that there are specialist advertising sites and of course, social media. As a minimum you want to see your business permanently advertised on Rightbiz, Dalton’s and Onbiz. Keep checking these to make sure your advert is always live.

No. It’s the drive to sell businesses that matters, don’t be blinded by rubbish claims of xx amount of years experience between xx amount of brokers, look at the reviews and judge how good people are at selling businesses and not just about talking about selling businesses.

Help promptly with any enquiries and viewings and be open minded to deal structures and offers are the main things. Agilis Advisory will also speak to you about things you can prepare in your business to make it more attractive to buyers and easier to transfer.

Firstly we advertise your business and promote it through social media and by working our extensive data base of buyers. For those who need more help we can do a tailored out reach campaign. Once we receive buyer enquiries we can help speak to them and even negotiate the deal. That support depends on if a client needs it or not.

We earn from our advertising revenue. If a client needs more support then we discuss commission on completion but the vast majority of our clients are on our fixed monthly fee, base package. We also make money from commission when a business sells. We only put commission in place for our free packages or where our clients need us to handle the enquiries and negotiations, where a client doesn’t need our help with the enquiries there will be no commission in place.

Of course. It all depends on the size of the business and how much support you need. Unlike other brokers who try to start high we start at our base package and tailor the support to your needs.

For the vast majority of businesses a visit isn’t needed. Valuation formula isn’t dependent on seeing the business. These brokers that usually insist on a visit won’t talk about fees in advance, they will put a high pressure sales person in front of you to try to negotiate the largest fee possible. If you do want to see a broker in person make sure you are aware of the fees before they get there. Alarm bells should ring if they won’t discuss fees before a face to face meeting.

Standard tactic. Insist on being provided with full contact details for all buyer enquiries. With Agilis Advisory you will be sent the buyer enquiries for your business as soon as they enquire, by email in real time. It can be done so you have to ask why your broker doesn’t do this.

Yes we do. We have used many suppliers previously and we are happy to pass on their details. This is in no way an endorsement of their service and we may or may not earn a commission from these suppliers. For total clarity we will never recommend a supplier based on commission alone.

With a traditional business brokerage which has taken a lot of money as an up front “deposit” then this money is lost. They will hope you give up so they can remove your business from the advertising platforms and keep as much money as possible. With Agilis Advisory if your business hasn’t sold within 10 months you advertising will be free for ever with our happy customer guarantee.
